Inner Voice
We are born with an inner sense of purpose about who we are and what we want. Call it our inner voice, our ID, our Spirit, or our Soul. Whatever you want to call it, we listen to it and we don’t follow anyone else’s rules.
It’s very simple: We cry when we’re hungry, sleep when we’re tired, and grab stuff when we’re bored.
But we are taught from a very early age to follow other people’s rules.
There are a LOT of rules to learn and follow – – and it get’s complicated!
Eventually, most of us become SO well trained to follow rules and do what we’re told that we forget how to hear and follow our own inner voice. And this can leave us feeling confused, stressed-out, and searching for purpose.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could make things simple again and just know what we want to do?
Good News
The good news is, you can! Your inner voice is still in there, ready to guide you if you tune in and listen. When you do, much of the stress and turmoil you feel will melt away. It’s true. I know ’cause I’ve experienced it.
You may be thinking, “yeah, right…I don’t hear any inner voice…this is Woo-Woo B.S!”
A Simple Way to Hear Your Inner Voice
I get that. That was me for a long time, too. But I swear it’s in there…and there are lots of ways to tune in and begin to hear it. I’ll be talking about them as we go along. But for now, here’s one really simple way to hear your inner voice:
Pay attention to your feelings. All of them.
The good, the bad, and the ugly!
Yeah! Your feelings are your inner voice calling out to you, trying to tell you something important! Just ask yourself, “why am I feeling like this?” And then just see what answers pop into your head. Don’t worry if you don’t know right away… they will bubble up eventually.
